Training Course on Specialized Anti-Rabies Care Underway in Karakalpakstan
Providing timely, qualified medical care to people who have been bitten by animals is essential for preventing rabies. To this end, the Center for Retraining and Advanced Training of Personnel in the Field of Sanitary and Epidemiological Well-being and Public Health is conducting an outreach professional development course on specialized anti-rabies care for healthcare professionals and sanitary and epidemiological service personnel in the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
The training course, taking place from October 19 to 23 this year, brings together medical epidemiologists, traumatologists, surgeons, and nurses working in healthcare institutions across the region. The sessions place particular emphasis on providing initial medical care to patients who have been bitten by animals, ensuring proper wound care, and organizing specialized anti-rabies care in accordance with established procedures. Participants are also strengthening their practical skills in the appropriate use of rabies vaccines and immunoglobulins, compliance with cold chain requirements for the storage of immunobiological products, and the accurate completion of medical records.
The course also addresses coordination with veterinary services. The timely detection of rabies cases in animals and the implementation of appropriate measures play an important role in reducing the risk of transmission to humans.
This professional development course contributes to enhancing healthcare workers’ professional knowledge and practical skills, supporting the delivery of prompt, high-quality medical care to the public, and improving the effectiveness of rabies prevention efforts.
