A regional meeting was held within the framework of the GLLP project
On June 16-17, 2026, a regional meeting was organized in Shymkent, Republic of Kazakhstan within the framework of the Global Program for Laboratory Leaders (GLLP) of the World Health Organization. Representatives of the republics of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan took part in it.
During the event, presentations were made on the implementation process of the GLLP program, the achieved results and future tasks in the participating countries. In particular, it was noted that 18 specialists selected from health, veterinary and plant quarantine and protection laboratories in Uzbekistan successfully completed the program, carried out scientific and research work with the support of experienced mentors, and formed a reserve of highly qualified laboratory managers.
Also, with the participation of WHO experts, progress achieved in the implementation of the program, existing problems and ways to overcome them were discussed. During the meeting, the best practices of the participating countries were studied, proposals were made to ensure the stability of the program and to improve financing mechanisms.
